Weldon Reed Wallace, 85, of Campbell, Texas, died on Sunday, October 18, 2020, in Bonham, Texas.  He was born on November 9, 1934 in Campbell, Texas, the son of Claude Collin Wallace and Nancy Leona Fox Wallace.

Weldon attended Campbell High School, graduating with the class of 1952.  After graduation, he moved to Odessa, Texas.  While there, he joined the Army.  Just before he left for service, he married the love of his life, Eddie Carruth, on March 19, 1955.  He spent most of his time in the Army serving in Germany.  Upon his return from his tour of duty, Weldon began working at the post office in Odessa.  In 1965, he moved to the post office in Greenville, where he stayed until his retirement.  Several years before retiring, he had moved his family back to Campbell, where he became an active member of the community.  He served as Mayor, he was on the water board, city council, as well as nine years serving on the school board.  His family were faithful members of the First Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer for 25 years as well as a Sunday School teacher.  Something that Weldon was especially proud of was being a lifetime member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, serving at one time as the Worshipful Master of the Lodge.

Weldon was known for how much time he spent gardening.  He was always moving around Campbell giving away produce that he had grown in his garden.  He was an avid animal lover, especially enjoying dogs.  As much as he loved them, they did always have to stay outside!  Weldon eventually became a fixture at the Campbell Store Coffee Shop, where he would play dominoes and solve the problems of the world around a cup of coffee.

Weldon is survived by his son, John Wallace; his granddaughter, Lauren Wallace; his brother, Gary Wallace (Linda); his sisters, Johnnie Higginbotham (Claude) and Paula White (Ronnie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Nancy Wallace, his wife of 63 years, Eddie, his brothers, Dewey Wallace and Don Wallace and his sister, Claudia Ramos.
