Graveside services for Leighton Powell Johnson, 99, of Lone Oak are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020, at Lone Oak Cemetery with Bro. Robert Cook officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.
Mr. Johnson passed away March 3, 2020, in Greenville. He was born May 19, 1920, in Lone Oak to Vernon and Johnnie Jones Johnson. Leighton lived most of his life in Hunt County. He graduated from Lone Oak High School as the Valedictorian of his class and served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from Sears after 20 years of service as a shoe salesman. Leighton was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Merlo Johnson.
Survivors include two sisters, Jean Leach and Norma Cheek both of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
