Joe W. Holt died unexpectedly in his home on December 3, 2020 in Caddo Mills, Texas at the age of 76.

Joe is survived by his wife Brenda O’Neal Holt of Caddo Mills, his son Allan Holt and his wife Christina Mize Holt of Caddo Mills and his daughter Amy Holt McEvoy and her husband Paul McEvoy of Pilot Point, Texas.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Meghann and Lindsay Holt of Caddo Mills, Anna-Grace, Duncan and Skylar Moore of Pilot Point TX and Tristan McEvoy currently stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen TX.

Joe was born on September 4, 1944 at Ft. Riley US Army base in Junction City, Kansas to J.D. and Geraldine Holt. He grew up in Ladonia, Texas and graduated from Fannindel High School before entering the US Army in 1963 with service to his country until 1969. He served as a medical corpsman with the 85th Evac Hospital during the Vietnam War 1964-1966. Military honors included the Vietnam Service Medal, Marksmanship (Rifle) Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Joe returned home from Vietnam and graduated from East Texas State University with a BS in Criminal Justice. He served with the Dallas Police Department as a patrolman, and a probation officer for several years before attending Polygraph Examiner’s School in 1976. He owned his own business providing polygraph services before he began a long career with BSN Sports. During his time at BSN he attended and judged a few events at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA.  He enjoyed many titles in the business world including Vice President of Security and Human Resources with BSN Sports and Hansen Aggregate. Joe retired from fulltime employment at the age of 68.

Joe was dedicated to a life of service that included his active and retired membership in the Hella Shriners for over 50 years. He gave his time and service to the Shriners Children’s Hospital charities through events with the Clown division for many years. He was a Master Mason of good standing in the Grand Lodge of Texas, Caddo No. 581.

Joe and Brenda attended services at The First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills. Joe was a Christian man who loved his wife and was proud of the 57 years of marriage they celebrated this year. He loved his children and grandchildren. Joe loved adventure with Brenda and were preparing for the next one with lifelong friends Lloyd and Janis Holloway of Millsap Texas.  He will be missed by many friends and community members.

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday December 7, 2020 at 1pm at the IOOF Cemetery in Caddo Mills, TX. Friends and Family are welcome to attend the service. Due to the current COVID-19 health precautions, a reception will not be possible. A special thank you to those who gave their time and service to Joe and his wife Brenda over the years. The family looks forward to your continued support during this difficult time.
