Dwayne Dean Slankster, Sr., age 71, of Lone Oak went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Lone Oak Assembly of God and burial to follow in Hooker Ridge Cemetery with Dr. Mary Slankster, Rev. Tom Calk, and Rev. Sam Calk officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service time at the church.

Dwayne Dean Slankster, Sr. was born on October 17, 1949 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Floyd Arthur Slankster, who passed on September 11, 1989 and the late Elizabeth Mary Lecluyse Slankster, who passed in October of 1983.  Dwayne worked for Ford Motor Company for 22 years from 1989 until his retirement in 2011. He married Debra Slankster on December 31, 1969. Dwayne and Debra enjoyed a snowbird lifestyle before moving to East Tawakoni in 2013. Debra preceded him in death on July 20, 2015. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Reinart on July 11, 2017 and two brothers, Arthur Slankster on August 11, 2007, and Roy Slankster on January 16, 2015.

Dwayne married Mary Dean Calk on February 14, 2017 in the Lone Oak Assembly of God Church. He was a board member/trustee at the church, assisted in building the new educational unit, and took pride in taking care of the church landscaping. He was a caring, compassionate man that gave of his time and talents to others. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He and his wife, Mary, travelled the world:  Alaska, Amsterdam, the Caribbean, Egypt, France, Ghana, the Holy Land, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, and Tanzania.  

He is loved and missed by his wife, Mary Slankster of Lone Oak; son, Dwayne Dean Slankster, Jr. and wife Marinda of Balch Springs; daughters, Tammy Marie Mercier-Marchant of Dimondale, Michigan, Rebecca Ann Granado and husband Oscar of Quinlan, Kimberly Lynn McDermott and husband Joshua of Mount Morris, Michigan, and Michelle Deanne Fallen and husband Josh of Waxahachie, sister, Jean Groulx and husband Julian of New Haven, Michigan, numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren
